About PropanePricePerGallon.com

This site publishes one thing well: what a gallon of propane costs in the United States, from the government survey that actually measures it, with the date attached to every number.

Who publishes this site

PropanePricePerGallon.com is published by Digital Signet Limited, a company based at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. Digital Signet runs a portfolio of reference sites that each track a single public dataset. This one is edited by Oliver Wakefield-Smith, who writes the interpretive sections against the EIA data file; the price series itself is pulled by script, not typed by hand.

We are not a propane dealer, broker, reseller or lead generator. We are not affiliated with any propane supplier, distributor or trade association, and we do not sell reader details to any of them.

Where the numbers come from

Every headline price on this site traces back to a named public series, and the figure you see is the figure that series last published, not an estimate of it.

EIA collects the residential propane price every Monday from October through March and, on paper, on the second Monday of each month from April through September; in practice it published all six off-season months in 2024, only April and May in 2025, and none in 2026. So in a year like 2026 the retail figure on this site is the last published reading from late March, and it is labelled with its week. We do not quietly roll it forward. The Mont Belvieu spot price runs year-round and is the freshest signal available in the off-season. The full pipeline, including what is fetched by script and what is updated by hand, is written out on the methodology page.

How this site is funded

There is no display advertising, no affiliate link and no sponsored placement anywhere on this site. No supplier pays for coverage, and nobody can buy a change to a published price. The site is paid for by its publisher. If that ever changes, the privacy page and the methodology page will say so before anything runs.
