These are the two state surveys this site tracks through the off-season, because both publish a dated statewide figure and a regional breakdown a reader can check. They are not the only ones: Massachusetts' Department of Energy Resources and Wisconsin's Public Service Commission also take a monthly reading from April to September. Most other states in the EIA program survey in the heating season only. With the EIA survey running, these readings serve as a cross-check on the EIA figure for those two states rather than as the freshest number on the site.

The Mont Belvieu spot is the propane price that keeps moving between weekly surveys. It closed at $1.133 per gallon on October 20, 2026, up 9.5 cents on the week and up 27.8 cents on the month. The residential-to-wholesale spread on the last weekly survey was $1.56 per gallon. Some state energy offices survey delivered retail propane all year round, weekly in winter and every two weeks or so in summer.
